Ages 10-12 – foundations/design
Our pre studio curriculum is designed to bridge the years between blooming creativity and realism. By the start of a child’s pre-teen years, creativity can start to dwindle and the objective of drawing realistically begins to dawn. It is ever more important at this age that the focus remains on originality and design over trying to emulate something or someone else. This is also the age where hand eye coordination is finally on par with an average adult and students need to be pushed to recognize their abilities are limitless. The projects in this class are designed to introduce essential foundation skills for realistic drawing but at the same time incorporate design elements that test problem solving abilities.
